Thwarting the 12.9% national average for women seeking Computer Science bachelor’s degrees, CS women make up 36% of the declared CS majors at Rice University. CSters is one of the groups that encourages women to actively pursue CS degrees by fostering relationships among the department’s students. Each spring, the CSters take a road trip to Austin, meeting with potential employers and learning more about careers in the tech industry. Read more details about the origins of the group in the interview with Julia Hossu. To get involved with CSters, go to their Facebook page.
